Growing up, I remember a soft drink market campaign with its catchy slogan: “The Un-Cola.” This slogan was associated with the soft drink 7Up. The slogan focused on the fact that 7Up was different. It was not a dark cola like the rest, and it had a bubbly effervescence that lifted you up. I remember so well the spokesperson with a Jamaican accent saying, “7Up, the Un-cola.” There is power in “Un.”
That brings me to the most powerful “Un” in the world, God’s love.
God’s love is unlimited. His love has no limits, no end, and it is perfect.
God’s love is unconditional. He loves you no matter who you are or what you’ve done.
God’s love is unselfish. He gave Himself for you in Jesus. (John 3:16)
God’s love is unchangeable. He is the same yesterday, today, and tomorrow. He always loves you.
God’s love created the world and sustains it. God’s love makes everything possible and provides the hope we need every day. Simply put, God’s love bears all, believes all, hopes all, and never ends. God loves you, and that is encouraging.
So, how do you explain unloving people, unloving situations and events, unloving conversations, actions, or deeds done in the world? It’s because we choose to reject God and His love. In essence, we are unable to change our very nature. Here’s the BIG question: Can this change? Yes, it can. How?
It begins inside me and you. The first step to receiving God’s love is confessing your unworthy, unwilling, and underserving nature. The next step is to do the unpredictable: receive His love and believe in what He did for you. Humans find this unfathomable, but God’s love makes it possible. I encourage you to do the unthinkable today: confess, receive, and believe. This is the way to experience true love!
At Doing Good at Work, we help people experience God’s love through and at work. We believe people can find forgiveness and acceptance that can set them free to be the best employees, managers, and leaders. To do this, you need a plan. Click HERE to start the conversation on developing a plan.
