What if I asked you to eat a bowl of baking soda or flour? That would be disgusting. But what if you took the same ingredients and added an egg, butter, milk, salt, sugar, and vanilla extract, stirred them up, poured the batter into a pan, put the pan in the oven, and baked it? It would turn into a pound cake. I love pound cake.
Similarly, take life with its good, bad, and ugly ingredients. Some of life’s ingredients are hard to handle by themselves. But, when they come together – the good, bad, and ugly – we start to see the big picture, and they form and tell a wonderful story. The Bible says it his way:
And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose.
Our great God takes every aspect of your life – in all three categories – and works them in and through you for good. I did not say it was easy or that we would completely understand, but I did say it was for good.
Wherever you are or whatever you are going through, I encourage you to hang on, don’t give up, persevere, and believe. Life is a process, and the journey is as important as the final product. Life’s mixing, stirring, and baking process will create something good.
