My word for 2022 is BETTER. Some of you know I recently completed the 2022 One Word Challenge, and I challenged you to find your word for 2022. You still have time to discover your word.
For me, “better” doesn’t mean “just getting better.” Sure, it involves a process, but it’s more. “Better” is about “being better.” It’s a state of heart and mind, and it’s believing there is a better way and allowing my belief to lead me into a new way of living.
Many people today have lost hope. They are not sure things will ever be better. They are confused, frustrated, tired, anxious, or afraid. They know they need something, but they don’t know what that something is. They grasp at stuff and try stuff, but their desperate desire for better eludes them once again.
I’ve experienced this, and I know many of you have too. But then I remember my purpose, my calling, and I am re-energized for the journey. The light pierces the darkness, and hope starts streaming into my world. I see it, feel it, hope infuses me, and I start moving toward the light. I know there is better, and I am drawn to it like a magnet.
As leaders, every day, we have the opportunity to lead people toward better. If you are struggling with what “Better” is, addressing this is the first step in becoming a better leader. Healthy leaders understand their purpose, values, and mission, and this clarity allows them to stay focused and motivated as they lead others.
Today, people need “better” leaders. Leaders at the top, in the middle, and at the bottom. Are you prepared and ready to be a “Better” leader? Here is something for you to think about: What is “Better,” and how am I preparing to lead others to it? Take action today!
