Trifecta
C

Recently, I experienced a trifecta in my life. No, I did not pick the top three horses in order (1-2-3) in a horse race and win a big prize. However, I had three major life events happen in the same week. I participated in a funeral, officiated a wedding, and had a birth in my family. This all happened in the span of seven days, not to mention I traveled and celebrated a major holiday. That is a snapshot of life – Birth, Death, and everything in between. Wow!

Life is full of planned and unplanned events, and most of what you experience is out of your control. Some people view life through the lens of pessimism and choose to live on the dark and gloomy side. Others view life through the lens of optimism, choosing to live in the light of hope and opportunity. How do you view life?

Me, I am an optimist. I see life as one big opportunity and believe I should live it to the fullest. Every day, my goal is to love people, provide them with hope, and encourage them to exercise their faith. It may seem like a simple plan, but it has its challenges. Some days, I get it right, and other days, I falter. So, I go to bed at night, get up in the morning, and start a new day. It’s simple, but it works.

Life is a journey full of experiences, and quoting Forrest Gump, quoting his Mama, “‘My Mama always said, ‘Life was like a box of chocolates. You never know what you’re gonna get.’” Mrs. Gump also said, “You have to do the best with what God gave you.”

The most important word in those Gump quotes is “God.” He is the giver of life and knows the plan for your life. If you get to know Him, you will know His plan. And, if you know His plan, you can do your best and live life to the fullest.

At Doing Good at Work, we help people do their best at work and in life. We encourage them to understand themselves and others and work together to achieve the best possible outcomes. Life happens at work, and it’s essential to have a plan to help the whole person at work, not just the employee. Do you have a plan that encourage people to bring their whole selves to work?
